My Dining Room

I am blown away at how amazing my husband is! I love love love my dining room now. Before it was nothing, now it is a room you want to be in. Do you like the red Ryan mixed up? We painted a closet red in our old house and Ryan darkened that paint with some black to tone it down a notch. The driving factor behind this work of art is that there was so little storage space in our house. Now there is quite a bit more.

I can not wait to lounge at my window seat and read a book. I need to make pillows to go with the cushion obviously, but it will be nice to relax and watch the boys play in the backyard. Do you think we should add hardware to the doors or not?

Before but in Progress.

Dresser

Ryan and I spent Friday and Saturday painting this dresser. I told Ryan "I must be crazy because I would rather spend two days and about $60 on a dresser than $400." It was really fun to work with Ryan. We got the dresser for $20, the hardware for $24, and the paint for less than $20 we used mis-tint paint and an antique glaze.

I wasn't sure I would like the pulls at first- but I think I do.

I've been working.

I am making the cushion for the window seat. I have been trying to follow this. I also used this to help me figure out the bias tape. So far I have everything cut. So I figure I am close to half done. I am very excited to do my first zipper and my first piped edge. Yikes! Good luck to me. It feels so good to be making something.

Happy Easter!

I hope you had a wonderful Easter! We are about to go take some naps and than later enjoy a nice Easter dinner. Ryan picked up a rabbit yesterday for our dinner. I am excited to see how it goes. :)

Laugh

I think Landon laughs like his Dad who laughs like his Mom. Do you agree? I love the shots all together.

Love

dandelion flower
dirt heart

Landon brought me a flower. The first one he has ever picked for me. It certainly made me smile. A few minutes later Carter ran up and told me that he made a heart for me in the dirt. This sweet moment I never want to forget..

(Unlike the grocery store this morning.. I would much rather forget that.)

Punishment

The punishment for throwing dirt in Landon's face.

Come in the house and pick up the cars while you listen to "The Golden Rule" and Landon gets to continue to play outside.

I hope he can soon learn and follow the golden rule. Do you have any tips for making siblings friends??

We love the My Turn On Earth music. Carter's favorite is the body song.

Quiet

It's quiet at our house. Ryan is out helping someone sod their yard. The boys are asleep. The birds are singing and I can hear someone weed-whacking. Love it.

Ryan and I are going on a date! It's all planned... aka we have a babysitter lined up. So what should we do? We really have not been on a date in FOREVER. I can't even remember the last time the two of us went out to dinner or anything besides the temple together. I am really excited. When was the last time you went out on a date?

Boys

I am not the best at taking pictures of my kids. Maybe it's because my camera is kind of broken. I really think I want an awesome camera but... do I want to fork over the money? no not really. The boys are playing outside today. It's not perfect weather but the wind isn't blowing so we are happy with that. Landon is still tiny.

painting

inside the paint booth

Ryan loves to do. He is a guy that always has something on his list to get done. He is still working on my dining room built-ins. We ran wires on Friday. There will be lights on the top shelves switched in with the over head light. Yesterday we sanded, caulked, and cleaned. After the afternoon session of conference Ryan donned his painting gear and sprayed a second coat of primer. I can't wait for the project to be finished!! Not only will it look fantastic but it will also give us our dining room back. We current have quiet a barricade up to block the children from entering.
