Apartment Life

Our apartment shakes and it has since we moved in. Ryan and I would try to note the time of day it would; maybe it was a train? logically it would shake around the same time of day when it did. But it was always so random. I would look out the window and blame the construction that was happening across the street but the construction has been over for months and yet the house still shakes but only sometimes. After months of contemplating I finally figured it out! It is the neighbor's spin cycle on the washer. Paper thin walls- I tell you. I am shocked that it took us this long to figure it out. I mean the girls downstairs walk across the room and I think- like seriously think- that someone is in my apartment (like my heart has stopped with fear because of it before) and it's not just me. once I even saw Carter look up to see who was coming. Oh and the girls love to sing but usually in the dead of night so it is only bothersome if Carter has awoken me and than I am trying to go back to sleep. BUT I am sure that they have much more to complain about then a crazy spin cycle and occasional singing.. because we.. we have a baby! AHH I am glad we don't live below us!

Happy Valentine's Day

What is this? Answer

This little jewel is an organic _______. Guess what it is and I will mail you a prize. As soon as someone gets it right I will edit the post and announce the prize.

UPDATE 2-14-09 - Well no one got the answer right, although the nashi and this look surprisingly similar. It is actually a pontiac potato. Yep, just a plain old Idaho grown potato that I dug up from the ground. Most of the ones I dug up were the large kind you normally see on your dinner plate, but there were quite a few small ones that actually taste better than the large ones. For another picture of organic potatoes click here. So I guess no one gets the prize-I will eat this little jewel and the chocolate that was slotted for the winner. If you live close to us come on over and you can try a few of these guys.

11 months old

Dear Carter,

I cannot believe that you are almost one! You have grown up so fast. This month you have been lots of fun and a little bit of a headache. You seem to think touching the buttons on the tv is so fun and there is a pile of toilet paper up on the shelf above the toilet instead of around the roll (I wonder how that happened).

We play hide and seek with you often. Either with a toy or other object or we hide from you and call out your name- you are pretty good at finding us. YOU ARE SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT! okay so you still wake up and cry but only for a few minutes and quickly fall back asleep. Usually when we put you to bed you lay there and talk to yourself and sometimes lay there for up to an hour! We sure do love you. You are a walker now and are perfecting standing up without support. Keep growing and learning.

Love you,
Mama (that's what you call me but I think you also think Mama means food, which I suppose you are right because I do feed you)

New Layout!

For all those that read our blog via a reader, come take a look at the new design and tell us what y'all think.

Carter's Strange Sleeping Positions

Every time we put Carter in his bed we put him in the middle and cover him up - but he never ends up that way. Normally he scoots to a side and sometimes uses his alligator as a cushion. For his afternoon nap he ended up like this, and last night he had both legs almost completely out one side, and a hand out the perpendicular side.
