*I can make my husband laugh

6.What are FOUR classes you wish were offered to you that you could participate in for FREE right now?
*Cooking Class- I really enjoyed the one I took last year (I love cooking with people, plus the teacher does the shopping.)
*Sewing Class- I have a project and I'm a little bit afraid of, a classroom might actually make me more scared... so maybe not.
*Leaded Glass Class- How cool would that be make your own stained glass
*my Religion Class- I'm in one right now but I would love if it was Free. :)

Todays Excitig News

Today was a great day. I managed to sleep in, but still have time to remove the last of the front bushes including 5 wheelbarrow loads of dead needles and
junk, purchase some beautiful wood,and go shopping with Liz.
The wood is for a game that our family commonly refers to as The Game. I will post pictures later of the progress, but our board will fold in half, be reversible with a chess game on the other side, and double as a storage container for the pieces. I have really never worked with wood, so this should be an interesting experience.
Look at the detail in the wood. It's gorgeous.

For the last little while, I have kept myself busy by removing bushes from the front of my grandparents house. They have been in the yard for 20+ years, and have grown so tall and intertangled that the only live growth is on the top 8 inches or so. So far I have a burn pile that is ten feet tall by about 12 feet in length. Its going to make a heck of a fire, maybe I will invite some people and make smores.

Throughout this process I have found lots of trash, old siding, pots, garden tools, and spiders and wasps. Yesterday i found the biggest wasp nest I can ever remember seeing. Instead of having one large disk inside, it had layers and two large entrances. I almost kept it as a souvenir but I saw some movement so I burned it.

Uncooked Cookie Throwdown

So Ryan and I enjoy watching HGtv, the Food Network and DIY.. I know we are such nerds. Anyway on the Food Network Bobby Flay has a show called :

Well what happens is Bobby gets an assignment to challenge someone in the US who is amazing at cooking something, such as doughnuts, chili, steak, and many others. He finds out info about how they make what they make and he tries to show them up.. sometimes he wins some times he loses.

Ryan and I had our own Throwdown. He wanted to make uncooked cookies.. I don't really like his.. and he doesn't really like mine.. So we both made our own and judged them.. the first judgement was biased and ended up with a tie with each of us voting for our own cookie and then we had judges come in (Chad and Nicole) and blindly they judged the cookies. The results are in and it was a TIE! Nicole liked Ryan's and Chad liked mine! We are both winners.. Ryan's where much softer and nicer that way because he stirred on the heat with his oats but mine had a better flavor because of the chocolate chips, coconut, and pecans (Ryan's used Cocoa Powder). So next time I think I will stir mine for a little bit over the heat to see if that will make them softer. (Mine are excellent for instant gratification, but don't store well, Ryan's store well and are to warm and liquid to eat right away). Ryan pours his lets them cool and then cuts them with a pizza cutter to make squares, we discovered that if you try to stack his on a paper plate you end up with one large cookie; they need to sit on wax paper for a while to set up (a long while). I am pretty sure I took more pictures of the cookies but they have disappeared so here is a picture of the ones that are left. Mine are on the left and Ryan's are the darker huge ones on the right.

cookies and games

Cookies.. Ryan and I made cookies this week. Ryan doesn't like to cook. He likes to experiment so he used half the plain dough and added peppermint oil and peppermint candies. I took the other half and added chocolate chips. Both turned out good the last few cookies we mashed dough together for both flavor combinations. They were good. Chad and Nicole came over and played Carcassonne, Ticket to Ride, and a dice game from Pirates of the Caribbean and helped us eat the cookies. We had a lot of fun.

Ryan and I don't have the internet at our home right now. Makes posting more difficult then normal. We will get better again.

My Brother

My brother Jordan was featured in the newspaper today.


Apparently he beat somebody up, in wrestling that is. He was ranked third in his weight class in the Texas Panhandle. Here's the web site. Also look here if you use facebook.
