house, car, something funny

So we need to update because so much has happened this week. :)

First- On Monday we but a bid on a house.. and by Thursday afternoon we found out that they said yes! (we ended up with about 5 counters). So that means we are buying a house and moving! The house is on a quiet cul-de-sac with what seem to be very friendly neighbors. We are super excited!

Second- We totally got robbed! I don't know if Ryan forgot to lock the car or what but Friday morning Ryan left and came back super fast to tell me that our stereo was gone and a few other things that we had in the car. Long story short the police came by and later reported to us that the found the theif and we will get our stereo back next week.. but my question is what about the fact that the guy broke our dash and do we get like some kinda compensation for hassle, annoyance, and increased blood pressure?

Third- It's Easter and on Monday we went over to friend's house and dyed hard boiled eggs and had a great FHE lesson on sharing.. Our children need a little help with that trait. Well the Easter Bunny showed up at our house and hide a few eggs for Carter (there are no pictures but there is a video) and he had fun finding them this morning. (Here is a great Easter Video about more important things then an Easter Bunny)

And just a warning be very careful when blowing around warm candle wax.. but a really good laugh! Thanks Ryan.

Coloring

During Conference we gave Carter some Crayons and let him color. He was so pleased that he was producing something that after almost every stroke of the crayon he would put it down and clap his hands then draw another mark.

poor translation

"Ryan will you feed Carter lunch?" Does not translate into "Ryan will you pull Carter out of the tub, diaper him, and then feed him?"

Spring Snow

It's been spring like for the last few weeks but it is snowing now. Which is perfect timing because Carter just got a birthday package a few days ago with snowpants for next year in it! Thanks Aunt Ang! We took the snowpants and his new coat for a test run.

Scars

I have a scar on my face. It is a result of a childish action; I was doing summer saults on the sofa.. and I got too dizzy and hit my head on the prayer table. I had to get stitches. (I was 3)
Carter is going to have a matching scar. He was not doing a childish thing.. he was trying to be a man. He was pushing or rather trying to push the cart at the church (the one that is used to store chairs on) and he slipped and hit his head on the metal. He didn't get stiches. We went to Grandma's our own personal nurse and she patched him up.

And I was able to get the blood out of the sunday clothing!

painting

For my birthday my grandma got me some painting supplies and lessons and one on one instruction. So I have been going over to her house once a week or so for the last few weeks and have been working on my painting. I brought it home today to show Ryan because I wanted his input- I am almost finished but it still needs a little more help. And I want your input too. What do you think?

Birthday Party!

We had a great time opening presents. Carter's favorite was a board book his cousin gave him. He got some cute clothing and stuff animals and a tissue box. The tissue box was my mom's idea apparently lots of one-year-old's think it is super funny to open the tissues and pull them out.. however Carter really was not interested.

Happy 1st Birthday!

At first he was not interested in the cake either but it looks like he ended up enjoying it!
We had Texas sheet cake! yum.

Birthday Boy!

Dear Carter,

Yesterday was your birthday and it was so much fun. We love you so much and feel very blessed that we get to call you our son. I find it so hard to believe that a year has already gone by. You have grown and learned so much. I love the way you wave hello and goodbye. Uncle Jeffrey would open and close his hand when he was little to say goodbye and you wave your whole arm and sometimes wave both arms. I love it!

You know where my nose is and you say mama and dada- that is about the extend of your vocabulary even though you have said ball and bye a few times and I swear that you even have said Alligator! But Mama and Dada are your favorites with the latter being your most fav.

We go and stand at the back window around lunch time and wait for Daddy to appear and you get all excited and start to call out his name and wave hi and your Daddy absolutely loves it! We have a lot of fun making you laugh and chasing you around the apartment.

When I am cooking in the kitchen you come and stand in between me and the counter and cry this cry that says "Hey I want to taste that!" and then you will take off and then come back and ask for it again.

The kids in our 12 year old Sunday School class love you, maybe a little too much because often times before the class is over me and you get kicked out so that they can focus. :( But hey 6 more months and then you get to go to Nursery!

I love you,

Mama

Play it Forward

I know that this has been going around and I've been waiting.. but I finally committed to playing.

So, here's how this game works-the first 3 people to leave a comment on this post will receive, at some point during the next couple of months, a handmade gift from me. What it will be and when it will arrive is a total surprise! The catch is that you must participate as well. Leave your comment, then write up a pay it forward post on your blog to keep the fun going (or be lazy and copy and paste like I did). Now sit back and anticipate the arrival of your gift! Remember, only the first three get a gift.

Come on be brave and comment. :)

58 degrees!

I don't know if I believe it but Key Bank told me it was 58 degrees. Lovely! Ryan and I are already dreaming of our first 2009 camping trip. We love spring and summer.

Oh and can you believe that it is already my child's birthday month? he is gonna be a little boy.. you know instead of a baby.
