7 Months Old

I am a copy cat. My friend Kate is the one that inspired me to do these Month to Month posts- but last month for her little one she wrote a letter to her instead. and this month I have decided to do the same thing.. I know I am such an original.. but hey when you see a good idea why not? So here it goes.

Dear Carter,

Wow I don't think I could have picked a better month for this letter for you. You have grown so much! Just a month ago you were still scooting and than the very next day you took your first real crawl; a week later we went to Texas to visit Grandma and Grandpa J and you started pulling yourself up at the couches. Now you crawl to your room and play and come back again. You chase me and your dad around the apartment you hate to be alone.. much like I do. It is so fun for me to see you and Dad play together- I especially love when you crawl up Dad's legs when he is wearing shorts (your little claws and Dad's leg hair; I have to admit I don't wear shorts around you anymore a few scratches was enough for me).. You are so fun to watch.

You love food. I put you in your high chair and give you some cheerios and puffs and you just grab handfuls and shove them in your mouth. It is a little scary sometimes you don't know how many times my heart has stopped in fear as you start to choke a little or when you do your fake cough. You should be more careful. We took you out to eat with Great Grandma M the other day and you wanted dinner too; so I handed an asparagus spear and you were set for the rest of dinner.

You make me happy. The glow in your eyes when you smile and your laugh are wonderful.

I love you,

Mom

HAPPY HAPPY Night!

Carter was put to bed at 8:30 last night.. 15 minutes later he was asleep. 2 hours later he was awake and I fed him and then he was asleep again and than 4 hours later he woke up and was fed again. AND THAN HE WOKE UP 5 hours later!!! WOO HOO!! That is 8:30-10:30-2:30-7:30!! which is much better than it has been. Previously there was a 12:30 and a 5am as well. OH happy day!

And we are cutting Teeth!!!

I think part of the recent sleeping problem has to do with the two little white buds in Carter's lower jaw..

Only time will tell.

oh and Carter and I just had our first successful game of hide and go seek!! he found me. :)

Sleeping

Update.. Thanks for your help.. But Ryan came up with a very helpful solution.. we have started to swaddle him again which means he can't stand up in the bed a yell. It is much easier to fall asleep when you are laying down even if you are yelling. Hopefully this will work. It did tonight.

So Carter slept really well two nights ago.. but than he didn't really take a nap yesterday. Last night he was back to his old tricks every two hours calling my name. Than at 5 AM he did not go back to sleep so easy. So I headed to the couch to hold him (so Ryan could sleep and I could lay down) And look at this setting his own schedule for sleep!
3:30 is not nap time and I am afraid of what tonight brings.. at least Ryan doesn't work tomorrow so it's not nearly as big a pain.

Any ideas on how to get him to sleep better at night?

Still working on letting her get me one of these for him. (ignore me its a bad picture)

Island Park and Cliff Lake

We went camping last weekend. Here are some pictures:

My dad got me a tent when we got married and we have given it lots of use.

Everyone in the family has a tree at Island Park, this one is Carters.

At Cliff Late in Montana, Devin and I built a raft out of drift wood and rope. All we needed was a sail and it would have been first class travel.

Crawdads - a new tradition. This is the second time we have caught and ate crawdads from Cliff Lake and will not be the last. They are really good.

One of the trails to the rope swing.

The water was cold, but we could not resist a perfectly placed rope swing.
